Parents Anonymous

Tonight we had our first parent group meeting. For those unfamiliar, hospitals organize meetings for new parents that all have babies born at roughly the same time. It’s a bit like AA with babies.

“Hi, I’m Tim, this is my baby Olivia. She’s fussy and playful and I feel exhausted and confused.”

“Hi Tim!”

You get the idea.

Turns out, it’s quite fun. If nothing else we learned that we aren’t alone. Most everyone there had similar experiences and fears. For example, the class is from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and many people were concerned because that is their babies’ fussy period, just like us. Nearly everyone had similar stories of babies not eating, not sleeping, not whatevering. So, despite what some of you may think, we are normal.

And, we meet two couples who live near us that seem fun. The prospect of cocktail parties has already crossed my little mind. (Thanks Jack for the Three Martini Playdate.)

  1. Of course you are normal. How many are first time parents or are all in the group first timers?
    Love Grandma

PS Pictures would be nice to send.
