Labor Day marks many things, but many around here it means back-to-school. My classes actually started last week; Sarah has students returning this week.
To mark the seasons, I’ve uploaded a ton of photos, most from this past weekend’s trip to Harsen’s Island. Sarah’s family has a cottage there and we decided to have one last mini-vacation. The Schleicks and the Baats joined us for most of the short stay.
I’ve also uploaded some older pictures, including a couple from a trip to the zoo (see photo above) and another short trip that we made about a month ago to Grand Haven. We stayed in a cottage with my parents for a long weekend.
We spent Thanksgiving week at my parent’s this year. On Thanksgiving day, Sarah, Olivia and I were in the lower-level guest room and our conversation went something like this: (more…)
Here are the pumpkin pictures.
Only two more days of work then it’s off to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands! John, Dave and I picked up (most) of our tuxs tonight. My jacket sleeves needed lengthening and John’s getting a new shirt. I’ll pick those up after work on Wednesday. I can’t wait!
Halloween went very well. The smoking pumpkins worked great – they even managed to scare a few small children. (There were about 3 kids who wouldn’t come up the front walk because of the pumpkins. I shouldn’t be proud of that fact, but I am.) The film is being dropped off as I type this, so hopefully I’ll have some pictures later this afternoon.
It was a really great night for Halloween. Pleasantly warm and no rain. It would have been nicer with less breeze, only so that my fog didn’t get blown away so quickly. Kids began trick-or-treating around six and were done by eight, which was a little disappointing, but we did have about 80 come by.
Yesterday was spent driving to Grand Rapids and back. My parents bought an entire housefull of new furniture so we went over in the father-in-law’s Yukon to fetch a few pieces for ourselves. Of course, I had to work on their computer for them some more as well. Oh, and since we had the truck, dad and I ran over to Lowes and picked up his gauzes tub for the basement bathroom.
Stay tuned – I’m hoping that the Halloween photos turned out and will be posted here in a couple of hours.
