A couple of week ago we were in San Diego visiting family. My brother and his family have lived out there for 10+ years and recently the mother-in-law has moved out. She runs all of the concessions at Petco Park, so we got a pretty sweet tour of the Padre’s home base while we were there.

Pre-race Report
July 24, 2007
Speaking of racing, this coming weekend marks the first outing of the year.
After getting the motor back in, the car went off for a little welding. G.T. Fab & Welding did a fantastic job installing a couple of extra door bars for me. Now not only do I meet the updated rules, I feel safer.
All that’s left to do for the weekend is to finish installing the new race harness and gather up supplies. We’re heading out Friday to run the open test-and-tune session at Gingerman in order to break in the new motor without breaking it. It will also give me some much needed extra seat time.
Let’s hope everything goes well.
Conversation with My Daughter
The other day I let Olivia “drive” the race car while I did a little work on it:
Me: “Where are you driving?”
Olivia: “You crazy.”
True enough.
Mobile Phones – Part 2
July 20, 2007
New phones have been had. Yesterday we picked up a couple of new Samsungs. I opted for the M610 while Sarah went with the M500 (in red).
The M610 is the thinest phone on the market at the moment, Despite that, it is actually a rather large phone, providing for nicely sized keys and a large and incredibly sharp screen. In addition to the 2 megapixel camera, it also can play MP3s. Phones as music players seems to be the new trend, much like phones as cameras was new a few years ago.
So far I like it; I just need to get use to holding it. Because it is wide and flat I can’t just cradle it in my palm, which is how I’ve held my old phone for 4 years. The biggest drawback of the phone is the external screen, which is just a blue, two line display. We’ll have to see how much the music player gets used.
As for Sarah’s M500, it is a very nice phone. It sports pretty much the same features as the 610 (camera, music, etc), but in a smaller form factor. It is much closer in size to our old phones and is very comfortable to hold. I really like the buttons on it, which are individual keys, not a touch pad. They have good feel to them and are nicely spaced.

The wife and I are looking into finally upgrading our phones (after something like 4 years). So, anyone have advice on phones? Specifically Sprint phones, like the Razr, Katana, Samsung M300 or M610. Other options are welcome. I don’t really care about camera, music and other options — we want good reception and good stand-by time.
