Just when I thought we were going to make it a year with out a whole lot of fish flies (aka mayflies), blamo, I got home from t’ai chi last night and they are everywhere. Oh well. They aren’t really bothersome, they do get a bit thick around street lights and what not though. Got to remember not to turn on the porch lights.

But now, I am about to leave work for a 5-day weekend. We get Thursday and Friday off and I’m taking Monday off just because. Sarah and I are heading up to Alpena tomorrow to spend the weekend at her family’s cabin. The plan is to do some hicking and reading, maybe some cribbage and not much else. I might actually get bored. I’m sorry to hear that Jack and Kristen won’t be coming out for part of the weekend, but I know they have plenty of other things going on. Another time then.

Lastly, I watched Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust again Monday night. That is a really good movie. It has what I like in a movie: a tight plot that it follows. The premise is simple: vampire runs off with girl. D and another bounty hunting group set off in compitition to return her. Just because its a simple premise doesn’t mean that the telling can’t get complicated. In this case it isn’t too complicated, but there are a few little twists and side plots to keep it interesting – in other words, it was well-written.

I had an entire “what makes a good movie (according to Tim)” run through my head this morning, but I’ve forgotten the finer points at the moment. Plus I want to go home now. Maybe I’ll work on writing it all down this weekend and I’ll post it on Monday. Maybe.

Everyone have a good 4th!
